about yoga

yoga is an ancient system of philosophy, principles and practices derived from the Indian tradition

The very word “yoga” means union, uniting body, mind and soul for health and fulfilment. The human being starts to act as a whole. Yoga is the art of disciplined and conscious life with respect to universally human principles.
It is an approach to life that values appropriate effort based on balance and harmony within each person and with each other.
Yoga is the quest for inner wholeness and ultimate freedom.
There exist numerous systems, schools or approaches in the yoga itself.

Hatha yoga is a practice where the evolution begins from the body (asanas) and breath (pranayama).
The way of performing yoga postures, or asanas differs significantly from common physical exercises. Asanas require focus and silence, full attention, awareness and mindful presence. Yoga is being fully in the now.
Yoga is practised by millions of people all over the world and the number of students is constantly increasing. It is widely practised by people from all walks of life regardless of age, nationality or religion. By common people who take good care of themselves and want to improve the quality of their lives.

Here is what B.K.S. Iyengar said

“Very few people begin yoga because they believe it will be a way to achieve spiritual enlightenment, and indeed a good number may be quite skeptical about the whole idea of spirituals self-realization. Actually, this is not a bad thing because it means most of the people who come to yoga are practical people who have practical problems and aims – people who are grounded in the ways and means of life, people who are sensible.” (B.K.S. Iyengar, “Light on Life”)

benefits of yoga practice

“Yoga allows you to achieve a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are constantly trying to fit the broken pieces together. Yoga allows you to find an inner peace that is not ruffled and riled by the endless stresses and struggles of life. Yoga allows you to find a new kind of freedom that you may not have known existed.” (B.K.S. Iyengar, “Light on Life”)

Yoga practice is a unique, intimate experience promoting deep relationship with oneself, one’s own inner space to discover who you really are. Yoga is an inner voyage of discovery.

In the process of healthy, correct and regular practice you can notice, feel and become aware of beneficial transformations occurring simultaneously on different levels of your being. Yoga practice creates balance in the functioning of particular organs, systems and the whole organism. That results in emotional and mental balance, well-being and a positive attitude to everyday life.
